I agree that the mining system begs for a revamp. The changes that Akita T proposed in her thread are interesting too and they would definetely ruin macro miners! Also I believe that this issue should be brought up by the CSM which we are electing now

I believe that the issues we are discussing in this thread along with the procurer and the covetor mining barges(which are very problematic and do not have an everyday use for miners etc there are tons of threads about them)should be brought up to the new CSM. |

Originally by: Jimmy Duce ... What is wrong with them? The retriever can make what like 6 mill/hr mining Veld. A fully fitted hulk isn't as expensive as a fully fitted BS why should it produce more isk than a BS which atleast has some chance of going pop.
If the problem is with the *fun of mining I completely agree, mining is very very boring. But isk wise it is perfectly fair way to make "safe" isk. How do you make it fun? I've heard something about random spawns and that crap. There are already exploration sites and even missions spawn ores. Over 100 mill worth of high sec ores in some lvl 1 missions.
No im not talking about the retriever which is great,im talking about the procurer and the covetor who both have not practical roles in the mining ship progression. You start with a frigate then cruiser and then straight up to the retriever because the procurer can be easily outmined by a cruiser and after 4-5 hours you can fly the retriever. Then while you train more your skills concerning mining you will skip the covetor because if you wait another 12 hours you get a hulk so there's no point and dont tell me that it's cheap and that i can get a covetor for low sec mining, that's not an everyday use.So the ship requirements should be changed.

Don't I wish.
I do believe mining should be revamped, but I don't care if it becomes more profitable, I just want it to be more challenging and fun. More importantly, I want a system that requires constant human interaction in order to eliminate the bots and AFKers -- people like this self-deceiving apologist: "Oh, I don't have tiiiime to mine, so I haaaave to use an maaaaacro. My faaaamily, my job..." &c ad nauseum. Go peddle that garbage somewhere else, MacroBoy; I ain't buyin'.
Finding a good mining patch should be at least as challenging as scanning down a Cosmic Sig. System-wide belts would help this mechanic along nicely, as well as increasing the overall "suspension of disbelief," I think.
I agree on your points concerning human interaction.Mining would be much more fun and interactive as you said and not >warp to belt>target roids>analyze>F1F2F3>unload>repeat
